NusuNusu TAILORED SHIRTS

NusuNusu is an original post-educational program for professional integration through tailoring. NusuNusu means half-half in Swahili. We chose this name to underscore our core philosophy: a fair work and a fair pay added to the notion that NusuNusu connotes meeting, sharing and equality.
Our project is based on a program of in-action (learning by doing) and an inclusive pedagogy. It combines three months training in sewing given by a local tailor with classes in communication, promotion, and accounting. At the end of the program, the participants benefit from acquired technical knowledge as well as some funds from the sales to enter the professional world in the best possible way. They can start their own businesses as tailors and any other sustainable activities. Or, thanks to the training’s certification, they can be hired by a professional tailor.
Your support is vital for many reasons. First, it will provide a strong foundation for this innovative project with the potential to deliver multiple positive outcomes. It allows us to develop our program properly, by having a successful first set of production (of around one hundred pieces). Our trainees will feel your support as they dare to take a chance on this budding initiative, that will eventually develop into a sustainable program. Safi is also benefiting from NusuNusu project by having a concrete production representing its long-time investment in the local society. Safi recognizes that there is often a gap between successfully completing education and attaining employment in that field. NusuNusu offers a path of sustainability during that gap time.
The shirts will be sold to customers in North America, Europe, or souvenir shops here in Tanzania. Purchasing details are in development.
